So this is a bit of a different blogpost than usual, but as I’ve been trying out new things and products that have sincerely been changing my life for the better I’ve been wanting to share ALL of it with ALL of you! I’m the type of person that once they find something they really love, they just want to share it with the world because of how AWESOME it is. So because of this, I’ve created another section on my blog titled Health + Beauty, and this is the first post that will go in that section. I’m so excited to share another topic that I’m so passionate about!! Health + making life easier and better is something I’ve always loved learning about. I hope what I learn and share can help you, too! 🙂
So to start off this post, here are 9 health + beauty items that I found in 2020 that I LOVE that have been making my life so much easier, efficient, and just better overall! 2020 wasn’t all that bad with these products:
- YANIBEST Silk Pillowcase: If you haven’t jumped on the silk pillowcase trend, YOU NEED TOO! I was kind of skeptical at first, but I’m so glad I tried it. I won’t go back to anything else! Silk pillowcases are incredibly better for your hair and skin. Skin Benefits: Silk contains 18 amino acids which nourish your skin while you sleep. It doesn’t absorb moisture from your face and body, which means skin doesn’t dry out! Your face will be better hydrated, which means plump skin, and plump skin cells show fewer fine lines and wrinkles than dehydrated skin cells. Hair benefits: Silk contains proteins that hair follicles need, creating a nourishing sleeping surface for all hair types. It can help keep your hair soft, moisturized, and tangle free. And it TOTALLY does!! I never wake up with frizzy, crazy hair when I sleep on my silk pillowcase. Friction from sleeping on a cotton pillowcase can cause hair breakage and bed hair, but hair will slide on a silk pillowcase which is much less damaging. It’s a HUGE win with so many benefits!
- Kristin Ess Style Reviving Dry Shampoo: Does the dry shampoo you use leave your hair feelings gross with that “dry shampoo” feeling, and/or does it smell kind of funky? Cool, so did mine, and then I chucked it out and bought this one and have NEVER regretted it!! This dry shampoo actually smells good with a nice, light scent, and actually makes your hair feel SOFT. I didn’t know that was possible!? But with this dry shampoo, it is. It’s heavenly.
- Burt’s Bees Tinted Lip Balm: If you’re like me and like to have a little color on your lips but don’t like wearing lipstick or lipgloss regularly, and are also a fan of more natural products, then I have found your new holy grail. I don’t go anywhere without this gem! It lasts long, I don’t need to reapply it a billion times throughout the day, and I feel good knowing I’m using a clean, cruelty free product. I usually use the color Red Dahlia for a deeper color.
- Maybelline Super Stay Full Coverage Under-Eye Concealer: Guys. When I say I have searched FAR & WIDE and for YEARS for a good concealer, I mean it. I spent more money than I’d like to admit over the years trying out ones that always left me disappointed. But now, I am disappointed no more!! This concealer stays on all day, and I mean ALL day dang. You could use it without powder and it wouldn’t stay sticky or crease too much (it creases occasionally for me because ya girl has wrinkles haha but honestly SO MUCH LESS than all others I’ve used). Despite that though, this is honest to goodness the best concealer I have ever used. It matches my skin tone pretty well too. I use the color Light, sometimes Fair when I’m more pale during the winter months (I always use a shade lighter than the color of my face to give my under eyes more of a subtle highlighted look and to say BE GONE to those dark circles). I love love LOVE this stuff!
- HYDRO CELL Stainless Steel Water Bottle: You know how Hydroflasks are REALLY awesome but also cost an arm and sometimes a leg? I found an alternative that has shaken my world and I literally tell everyone I know whenever I get the chance because they are SO AWESOME. Hydro Cell is an incredible alternative to Hydroflasks. They keep your beverage cold or hot for hours upon hours, even with the sports cap (that’s all I use), and are muuuuuch more affordable. I use the 32oz and 64oz. Anyone I’ve told about Hydro Cell that has gone and bought one has LOVED them too! Best alternative.
- Thread Wallets: This little wallet was one of the best transitions I made in 2020. I used to have a big bulky wallet that was really unnecessary, and I really wanted something super minimalistic that kept all my cards together. David and I both made the switch (I use the elastic one and he uses the bifold one) and we both LOVE them. They are so compact and keep our cards together beautifully. It’s so little, and I LOVE it! No extra bulky material. The company is also Utah born, so I love that I’m shopping local.
- Refectocil Color Kit: Last summer I was looking for a way to dye my brows without having to go to the salon or get my brows microbladed every year, so I started researching at-home brow dyes that worked and were affordable. After looking around, I bit the bullet with this brand based on reviews. I. LOVE. IT. Disclaimer: I had NEVER dyed my brows before, so I was honestly a little nervous. But it’s been one of the greatest things I’ve ever tried for myself. I feel like a whole new woman whenever I dye my brows, haha! Seriously I feel so good. It lasts for up to two weeks (mine usually only lasts a little over a week because I also wash my brows when I wash my face) and matches my hair color perfectly. I’m obsessed, and can put off getting my brows microbladed for longer because of this and not worry about make up!
- Shampoo Scalp Massager: I honestly had never heard of these things until I was looking for stocking stuffers for Christmas. I came across these gems, read about them, and told David I NEEDED them. He got them for me for Christmas and oh. my. heavens. They are heavenly. You use it in your hair in the shower after you put shampoo in, and it gives your scalp a thorough cleanse. It stimulates blood flow to the scalp, eases itchiness, exfoliates and removes dandruff, and reduces oil glands build-up over time which ALL helps and promotes hair growth! Plus it feels sooo nice. Whenever I use it, I feel so relaxed and ready to take on the day! It also feels so nice knowing I’m keeping my scalp healthy and getting in a good cleanse, especially since I go days in between washing my hair.
- PMD Face Cleansing Brush: If you’ve followed me for a bit, you know I’ve been RAVING about this genius invention. Here’s why: I have honest to goodness NEVER had better skin than I do now, and I attribute that entirely to this. As soon as I started using this, my skin got better almost instantaneously. It has completely minimized the appearance of blackheads, and even David has commented on how much my skin glows. This thing WORKS! I was using a great face wash, moisturizer, and serum, but with this added to the mix, it upped my skin care game by 10 fold. Here’s how: Instead of getting a deep clean occasionally by going to the spa for a facial, you’re getting a deep clean every single time you use this brush. It has SonicGlow Technology that breaks down dirt and oil from within the pores at 7,000 vibrations per minute while operating at a perfect frequency to lift, firm, and tone the skin. It’s made with ultra-hygienic silicone, which means it’s odor resistant, antibacterial, hypoallergenic, and waterproof (I use it in the shower sometimes with no problems). Since it’s silicone it also means that it’s gentle for all skin types. One side of the brush is the cleansing side and the other side is used to massage serums and moisturizers into the face. You can rest assured knowing you’re not wasting any product at all and that your face is soaking all of it in since you aren’t using your hands. Another bonus is the brush head never needs replacing. Because of the PMD cleaner, the only make up I wear on my face is concealer and mascara. Have I convinced you yet?! This is probably my favorite new product I’ve used in 2020. Hands down. Well folks, there you have it! These are products that have me feeling so confident and GOOD. I use 6/9 products everyday (silk pillowcase, Burt’s Bees tinted lip balm, Maybelline Super Stay concealer, 32oz-64oz Hydro Cell, Thread Wallet, and the PMD cleaner). The other 3 are used when needed (dry shampoo is used basically everyday haha, RefectoCil is used every 3 weeks or so, and the scalp massager is used whenever I wash my hair).
